[NYC SFO] Indian Passport Reissue — Full Timeline (April - May 2026)
YAYYYY !!! I got New Passport
Ignore NYC in the title, it was a mistake and now I am unable to change it
Hi all, wanted to share a recent positive experience for passport reissue (change of Address) as multiple other posts from this sub were of great help to me during my research. Hope this helps someone!
Updates:
04/23: Mailed via ups to San Francisco VFS
04/27: Delivered at 8 AM
04/29: No update yet on the vfs tracking portal.
05/01 evening: I received mail from vfs and my vfs tracking showed “Your application has been submitted at vfs ICAC for processing”
05/04:
- (vfs): Your application has been dispatched to Embassy of India for processing
05/05:
- (vfs): Your application is under process at the Embassy or Consulate
- (pp): Application is under process at Indian Embassy/Consulate
05/11:
- (vfs):
- “Your application has been processed by the Embassy/Consulate and returned to the VFS Indian Consulate application Centre and is currently in TRANSIT”
- “Your Application has been reviewed by the Embassy of India/ Consulate General of India & will be dispatched using the courier service you had opted”
- (pp):
- Passport has been printed, post quality check will be dispatched in the coming weeks

After this, vfs & passport(pp) portal haven't changed the status and I received email about usps default shipping by vfs
USPS tracking
05/12: No updated in any portal but received a mail from VFS Services no-reply@shipaccel.com
Your package has been shipped for order# <ARN No.> with USPS Tracking number
05/13: In Transit from Origin Processing. Arrived at USPS Regional Origin Facility
05/15: Received New passport !!!!

Tips for others:
- NOTARY : I was able to get free notary in chase bank.
- Sending docs to vfs: Fedex one rate shipping does it for 12.75$ https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/one-rate.html
- Refer to my comment for whole process that I followed (may be useful to someone)
