1301 Local development fight heating up in Hollywood Beach tonight
If you’re planning on going to the Hollywood City Commission meeting tonight, here’s the situation in plain English.
Tonight, May 20th, the City Commission is expected to discuss the 1301 South Ocean Drive project and the possible use of the Live Local Act.
Residents opposing the project believe a vote tonight could allow developers to bypass certain local restrictions and move the project forward before the public gets a chance to vote on it in November. Supporters argue the project would help bring workforce housing to the area.
Either way, this is becoming one of the biggest local development debates happening in Hollywood right now. All civic associations are hands on for this one.
Citizen comments begin at 6PM at Hollywood City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Boulevard. If you want to speak, get there early because speaker cards need to be turned in before comments begin.
Residents are also encouraging people to email commissioners today asking them to delay any final vote until after the November election.
