Should I freak out: they’re asking for $825,000, most of it pain and suffering

Austin TX. I was at fault for an accident (I turned and did not see them behind another car) and received a letter from progressive where their injury lawyer is asking for $825,000 or my max amount coverage ($60,000?). $164,000 for their MRIs, chiropractor, and projected future pain therapy costs and the rest is for “pain and suffering”.

I am single income and live in a small apartment with hardly any savings and private student loans. How would a future payout work? I barely make ends meet as is. I need my car to get to my job (terrible public transportation in Texas) so if they confiscate that and my the money I need to pay my rent I don’t know how I could keep working?

Would declaring bankruptcy be my only option? Thanks!
