I screwed a loft platform to the wall last year. Gaining the extra 24 square feet of office space was great, but while I don't mind somersaulting in and out of it every day, I am getting tired of throwing my black lab up there for snuggles and I could use more storage.
I have enough experience by now to assemble something that will function, but I strive to make each piece of furniture in my room that I replace a little less ugly than the last. This is also more detail than I usually put into the planning phase and will probably be the most complex thing I've made. I'm not sure what I want to do with each space yet, but the open segment will be a display area with plexiglass on either side. I don't think I want to permanently anchor it to the wall or floor, but it will be fixed to the loft somehow.
That said, I gotta do this pretty cheap. Plywood, I'm assuming, but I'm open to suggestions. You might notice a glaring lack of support structures, but I wasn't sure what would look and work the best here. If anyone has some general dos and don'ts or opinions to offer before I dive into this, I'd appreciate it.
