Very new to gaming in general. I inherited an old PS3 super slim but no good games of note. I bought used copies of FO3 & NV based on years of Vault Boy humor on the internet that I didn't understand, but wanted to. I'm having a great time, even though the games are very buggy and crash the PS3 all the time once you get close to the end. Lots of people blame this on the size of save files later in the game, but I cannot see how an 8-12 megabyte save could be the culprit. They're not THAT memory starved, are they? There's typically a lot of disk activity leading up to the freezes, so I'm wondering if that's swap activity?

ANYWAY. I absolutely love it when the Mysterious Stranger pops up in a trench coat with a .44 magnum and plugs the enemy in the face 2-3 times at point blank range. I cheer every time! Most recently, he finished off Legate Lanius to end the the main quest in NV.

What other perks are "must haves", especially if they grow in importance with your increasing level? I get why Educated should be taken early, looking for other examples and reasoning.

I'm bummed that FO3 became unplayable before I was able to finish it, and I definitely couldn't play all of the DLCs included in the GOTY edition. By the time I was strong enough to reach them the crashes became constant. I'm wondering if I can start fresh and go straight for the DLC material in both games before I progress the storyline much, or would that be impossibly hard to survive?
