Moving to Hilo!

This feels like a classic post in this thread, but here I am regardless! My partner got a job with the USDA in Hilo (she has her pHD) and has always wanted to travel to a new place to gain both work experience and live a little. I have a masters degree and work in forestry focusing on forest health (diseases and insects that kill trees mostly) with a lot of transferable research experience. So far I’ve had 3 interviews with various groups, a forestry company, DHHL, and a private forestry company. Any suggestions as a mainlander trying to break into this field?

Anywho, we are planning to move end of July, both are very adaptable, easy going, from high cost of living areas in the northeast (no strangers to insane rent!) and want to immerse ourselves in new cultures and places, while also hoping to contribute to working on conservation issues through our jobs wherever we end up! Any advice as we gear up for this move and I continue to job hunt!?
