Incoming grad students for Fall 2026 here. Want to know how selective is it to get into the ensembles at Columbia. I'm particularly interested in joining more of the sit-in ensembles (Wind Ensemble, Pops Orchestra, Jazz, etc). How selective are they?

l've done various ensembles in my undergrad, and want to continue doing music into my grad school years. I'm curious to know how much these ensembles prefer undergrad over grad student, especially since many of them have specified on their website that they try to take as many undergraduate as possible. I don't want to put all my effort into my auditions only to be rejected out of selection bias, so I want get as much information as possible.
