Form union at good job?
I really like my workplace, but our leadership recently decreased all hourly employee lunch breaks by 30 min from 1 hr. That 30 min was technically a paid break. I know, cry me a river. That said, 30 extra minutes every workday is ~2 weeks of time off.
I tried running it up the ladder, but that was not successful.
My problem is that it wasn't discussed or justified to any real degree. It felt like a rug pull. I don't want any more rug pulls, especially if it's going to impact my time or pay and the time/pay of our least paid employees.
This happened in January and I'm still pissed. It's totally out of character for the org.
So, is it worth it to organize a union?
Anyone ever do this at a mostly decent workplace? I suspect it's harder to get mostly happy employees to join a union.
Thanks in advance.
