so you foolishly opened a curse box, and now the whole world is about to endure a curse.
good news though! you get to pick the curse.
not picking means you get them all.
one way social transparency
from now on the opposite sex can read the thoughts of your sex.
so if you are a dude all girls can now mindread all guys, if you are a girl all dudes can mindread all girls.
only works one way though, so only 1 sex gets to be mind readers.
gonna make it real hard socially for the sex that is constantly getting their mind read.
good news is its fairly short range (10 meters) and its only surface thoughts so people cant dig into your memories or anything.
still gonna make basically any social situation with the opposite sex super suck tho.
peace on earth
humans cannot perform any kind of violence toward each other (we can use violence on someone's stuff however, only violence to their person is affected). even grabbing someone or shoving them counts as violence and is now impossible.
Really think about how this would go, how do we stop people just stealing everything? or not paying taxes etc?
how do we raise children when we cant physically haul them away when they are being difficult and are aged like 2 so you cant reason with them?
Society is basically built on the implicit threat that non compliance will at some point end in violence against you.
edit: many people seem to misunderstand the violence and children thing.
if someone comes along picks you up slings you over their shoulder and hauls you off you would consider that violence right? your 2 year old also does when you haul him off mid tantrum or for bed time.
violence is defined by the other persons perception of the act not your intent with the act, if they dont want you doing the thing you them you cant do the thing.
superpowers for the other team
people on the opposite side of the political/religious spectrum to you get mid tier super powers (so stuff like flight, mind reading, summoning fire/ice etc), think of powers on say spider mans scale. super useful but not city/planet destroying.
but only the other side gets them.
so if you are a conservative religious person all the liberal atheists are suddenly getting superpowers.
So which one seems like it would suck the least to deal with?
