I fell into the "Elara" trap - please help me get out!
About two months ago, I started writing a story. It has a modern setting, a bit of a thriller, mystery, and plenty of smut.
A women’s fashion label plays a supporting role in the story, which keeps popping up throughout the plot. Since it was making its first appearance, it needed a name. So I asked various AI and was surprised by the beautiful, evocative names I was suggested:
elara
It sounds nice; I’ve never come across it in real life, but it reminds me of a real-life fashion label called “eterna.”
The story is written, I’m working on another one in the same universe, and as the protagonists are out shopping again, it occurs to me that I’ve actually seen the name “Elara” somewhere else recently. A quick search and sure enough: it’s the go-to name for female characters.
Crap!
Now I need a new name. The fashion label only plays a minor role, but you know how it is—it’s the little details that keep you busy for hours.
Do you have any ideas for a catchy fashion label for women? The idea is elegant clothing by women for women, cothes that fit well and don’t bow to male fashion dictates (This reflects the central theme of my series).
No aggressive feminism, just a practical but stylisch approach that simply works. If you have any ideas off the top of your head, please let me know.
Current ideas:
- decens (Latin)
- decare / decaré (the decent way of self-care)
Alternative: any other term that can be combined with “Decens” to create an elegant db or bd.
As I write this, would "decibel" / "decibelle" work ad a fashion label?
Edit: can someone explain the downvotes?
