Hi everyone,
Nearly two years ago I started writing and posting to AO3. I only have one fic (almost 300k words) and while I love the story and love writing it, but despite that I have been feeling unmotivated to continue. Then the realisation dawned on me that the first half(ish) is very off-putting to me. The pacing is whacky, the prose whacky-er and well... it makes me want to hide. I've been reading a lot more and writing more, and I feel like my writing and vocabulary have improved over time.
Since identifying what has been bothering me, I have been working on and off on revisions, which is a lot of fun but also a lot of work. I want to have everything I have written so far to be revised before I update the old chapters.
I have already announced in my AN that the fic is under construction, and I plan to post another chapter before changing it in case someone wants to download the fic in its current state. I expect to be done around July, and I won’t be changing the story or plot or anything drastic. It's really the prose and pacing that will be different, where the first chapters will undergo the most changes.
Is there anything else you would like, as a reader, in regard to a writing rewriting their fic? I don't want to disappoint or annoy my subscribers/readers, hence the warning, but perhaps there's more I can do.
