I currently work in DoD contracting and have an offer to work in Germany with my same company. It would be my first time working overseas and have some questions for people who have done it, and if in Stuttgart that would be awesome.
How did housing work when you lived there? Was there an allowance or did you just take your base salary and look for something on your own?
How was dealing with federal / state taxes while overseas? I had heard a certain amount of money is tax free while there.
Has anyone moved there with a spouse who was not able to work or find a job within the DoD space? Has anyone tried to do documentation for work for their significant other to work a local job or apply for a work visa or anything as such?
Any other "gotchas" or questions you would recommend for me. Thanks!
