Marker on veneer

So a friend was going to throw out this table and I figured it might make a fun restoration project. Of course it has some marker stains. I heard that alcohol and or acetone might work to lift out the stain. I put some on with a q tip. And a tiny bit came up. The veneer is very thin so I dont think sanding it is going to work. Any suggestions? I thought i might experiment and cut the veneer out and place a patch? If people know what kind of wood it looks like to i will be much obliged.

MCM style table iroko and oak

Got so very nice off cuts from a fancy wood store. Iroko top with oak legs. There are short brass feet to give the piece a lighter look. Finished with tung oil.

Workshop air-conditioning

I have a garage workshop that faces the rising sun. It does not have any connection to house so gets pretty hot thos time of year. It was 108 yesterday. I recently put insulation on the garage door so it is better. My question is does anyone have experience with a free standing unit that I can use to cool down the space before I work in there and just shut it off when I make saw dust?
