When do I switch companies
For the past 1.5 years I have been trying to change departments with no success at my current company. In terms of corporate, I really like my current company. It's got some good benefits (as far as I know in comparison to most other companies in the US) and I like the company culture. However, I am extremely burnt out in my current role as I have been doing it for the past 4.5 years across two different companies.
I don't really want to change companies, but I also don't want to be stagnant in my growth right now. I have applied to two lower "rank" jobs in my current company in the past couple of weeks and have gotten interview offers, but I don't want to go down the ladder. I need to climb up, but I am not getting any interview offers for the higher ranking positions I apply for (and am fully qualified for).
So what do I do? Do I keep trying with my current company for a miracle of "right place, right time" to land me in a higher ranking position in the department I want, or do I switch companies because I haven't had any traction despite our company continuing to be in a good state of growth?
