Parents ruined my whole year

I've been teaching for 12 years in various grade levels and school systems between 3 countries. I have a lot of experience with dealing with entitled kids and parents, but this year was a lot. After some reflection and matcha, I know this year wasn't exactly my worst but it wore me down the most.

I cannot believe how coddled children are now. I teach in a college prep academy in 1st grade. Not a single student knew how to use their backpack or a folder and the parents were apalled when i said both were necessary for my class. Not a single child knew how to walk down the hallway to the restroom on their own in a school that they attended for at least 3 years of early childhood. I had a parent for the entire first month of school unpack their child's items, sit them down, and then proceed to serve them breakfast after arriving to class late. I would say about 70% of my class is late every single day.

I have a parent who hounded me all year long to justify her child's grades, while her child is sitting in class with a teething toy and destroying every item within range but somehow him not doing his work makes me the problem. It took until the 35th week of school of documentation, meetings, behavior referrals etc just to get admin to actually believe me that something is wrong with the kid and his mom.

Despite being a closed campus, parents have decided that rule doesn't apply to them and actually invited themselves to sit in on my lessons. Every single time I had to have security show up. Like wth is going on? I feel im taking crazy pills because somehow they think this is normal.
