Okay so I was looking at the Iron Man 3 poster and thought like “hey wait a minute” I know it can just be a coincidence but there are still some details I was thinking about. Mainly the water.

Since I first saw the Iron Man poster at like 11 years old (important to note this was also before I had read HOO) I’ve always thought he was standing on icy water. Only just today when I was comparing the two covers did I see that it was debris of some sort. But that still doesn’t change the fact that whoever designed it chose to add that white foam both on the left and bottom, and chose a color for the debris that is very similar to the water. It’s not ice he’s standing on but it sure looks a lot like it 😭

That’s partially why I can really imagine that someone at marvel saw the SON cover, rightfully recognized it as one of the hardest pieces of art ever made and was totally inspired to capture the same aura for Iron Man before realizing that he’s never on icy water in the movie.

Iron man 3 came out 2 years after SON and with how marvel is that def means they were possibly already working on it a bit after SON released, the perfect time where teens all over the place would be walking around with it.

Otherwise, despite the fact that this type of pose isn’t toooo uncommon, I’d still note that they both have their left hand flat on the ground while fisting their right right in almost the same height and angle. Their heads are positioned the same, with Iron Man only looking up slightly more. And along with that the debris/ ice they’re standing on is slanted the same way.

Other details that aren’t that relevant but I’d still mention are the choice of a cooler color palette in both posters and a building being destroyed in the background. What do y’all think?? lol
