For the uninitiated to the 99X objective grind, having players on the wing/D-pair with elite born leader allows you to keep your line with Sundin or Chara on the ice for nearly the duration of the game provided you’re able to score regularly. This in turn allows you to knock out objectives much faster without having to burn a timeout prematurely. Below is a list of players with the elite tier of the born leader ability. This was taken from a quick glance at the AH. Feel free to add more in the comments as you find them.

With 99X ushering in 99 Hut, and with the way the seasons have emphasized different facets of the line combos system, Season 6 is going to see a lot of OVR boost combos. Season 4 put an emphasis on line combos to gain salary. Season 5, because of the Captain/99X salary boost, put an emphasis on line combos the gain AP.

I Anticipate Season 6 will prioritize OVR boosts. One combo I think is a lock to be a Season 6 combo is 3x TOTS forwards or 2x TOTS defensemen will give a +2 OVR boost. Other combos will follow this trend to ensure folks can remain competitive with whales who have true 99OVR cards scattered throughout their lineup.

I wouldn’t sweat the salary cap or not having 99OVR cards going into season 6. I think they’ll either remove the cap or ensure combos boost cards to near 99. If a card is good at 95OVR or above I’d hold onto them in anticipation of combos heavily favoring boosting OVRs next season.
