Italy and Greece Honeymoon Trip Itinerary
Hey everyone! My fiancée and I are planning our honeymoon this summer and would love recommendations, advice, hidden gems, or things you wish you knew before your own trip. We’ve both never been to Italy or Greece before, and while we’re incredibly excited, the amount of things to do has honestly become a little overwhelming.
We’re trying to strike a balance between seeing the iconic “must-do” places while also leaving room to relax, wander, and enjoy the honeymoon without feeling like every minute is scheduled.
Here’s our itinerary:
- Venice — June 20–22
- Florence — June 22–25
- Rome — June 25–27
- Amalfi Coast — June 27–30
- Naples — June 30–July 1 (just for our flight)
- Chania, Crete — July 1–5
- Athens — July 5–7
A few things we already know we want to do:
- Wine tasting/vineyard experience
- Cooking class
- Boat tour somewhere along the Amalfi Coast or Greece
- See the major iconic sites (Colosseum, Duomo, Vatican, etc.)
- Relaxing beach days mixed with adventure/exploring
What we’re mainly looking for:
- Hidden gems/local favorites
- Romantic experiences
- Amazing food recommendations
- Sunset spots/views
- Easy day trips worth doing
- Places/activities that are actually worth the hype
- Things that are overrated and maybe skippable
- Recommendations that fit well for a honeymoon vibe
A few things people have already suggested:
- Elafonisi Beach / Balos Lagoon in Crete
- Samariá Gorge
- Renting a car in Crete
- Capri boat tours
- Tuscany wine tours
- Sunset cruises
Some questions we’ve been struggling with:
- What would you prioritize with this amount of time in each place?
- Are there any experiences that ended up being the highlight of your honeymoon/trip?
- What activities should we book well in advance vs leave flexible?
- Is renting a car worth it anywhere on this itinerary?
- Any restaurants, cafés, wineries, beach clubs, or viewpoints we absolutely shouldn’t miss?
- Any tips for avoiding burnout while still seeing a lot?
We’re open to pretty much any recommendations and would especially love hearing from people who have honeymooned in Italy/Greece before. Thanks in advance!
