Upcoming Library Events

Hey Greeley/Evans/Garden City Redditors!

Couple things happening at your library, then a list of events in the next couple weeks:

Board Seat Application Closing Tomorrow, May 22, at 5 PM: We have a short-term Board seat opening, which is great because if you’ve thought about getting involved with your library but didn’t know about a 2-year commitment, give this a whirl, see what you think. No library experience is required to be on the Board. www.mylibrary.us/board

Diaper Drive!: We’re hosting a diaper drive right now in partnership with United Way to help stock the diaper bank, which is what we use to distribute diapers in our libraries. We’ll take diapers in all sizes, loose singles, baby wipes and rash creams. Bring ‘em on in, last day is May 31^(st).

HPLD Library & Archive Opening June 27^(th)****!: Our newest location will have a Grand Opening (so Grand we spring for a capital-G) on Saturday June 27^(th), 2-5 PM. The spot is right behind our admin building on that one curvy road, address is 2650 w. 29^(th) St. in Greeley. It’s going to be pretty cool, we’ll have a full-service library, plus an archive. We inherited ALL of the Greeley Tribune’s archives going back to the 20s, among other things. And we’ll be setting up equipment to help rescue your personal archives as well, including ripping movies from older formats, scanning pictures, even if they’re glued down in old albums, all kinds of good stuff.

Drive-Thru Shred Day at LINC

Good chance to get rid of some of those sensitive documents, the library will have a big ol' shred truck (not to be confused with the Shred Truck, which hands out protein supplements) at LINC (501 8th Ave) on Tuesday, June 2nd, 10 am to Noon (or until the truck is full, so best to get there towards 10 if you can).

Volunteers will direct you where to go, you drive through, they'll unload your stuff and feed it into the vast, shreddy maw of the truck.

You don't even have to get out of your car! Doesn't get much easier than that.

Oh, and bonus, we'll also be collecting unexpired, non-perishable food for the food bank, so bring those items if you've got 'em to spare!
