I'm wondering how the commitment works because it isn't clearly explained in the documentation. More specifically, I’m talking about Cloud SQL in GCP, where I’ve signed up for a 3-year term at an on-demand rate of $30, which gives us a 52% discount, so we’ll effectively be paying $14.40. If my on-demand rate drops to $20, I’ll still be paying less because it comes out to $14.40 anyway.

Am I right in thinking that it will only stop being profitable for me once I go below the $14.40 rate? It seems illogical to me, and I’m sure Google has some kind of safeguard in place for this. Please help. I want to perform a sensitivity analysis and show when it will stop being profitable for me.
