I’m based in the UAE and going through a very difficult marital situation. I’ve already appointed a lawyer, but I’m still feeling lost and would really appreciate guidance both legally and from an Islamic perspective.

A few months into my marriage, after I dropped my wife at her parents’ home, her family refused to send her back and filed for khula around October 2025. Since then, they’ve completely cut off communication by blocking me and my family everywhere, and refuses to talk with any of my or their relatives.

There have been three reconciliation attempts so far. She attends, but refuses to speak or discuss what the issue is, and her family also does not engage in any meaningful conversation.

Despite everything, I don’t want to end the marriage. I genuinely want to make this work and am willing to try every possible step until the last hope, especially in a way that aligns with Islamic principles.

At the same time, I don’t want to make any legal mistakes that could harm my situation.

For those familiar with UAE law or Islamic guidance:

  • What steps should I be taking right now?
  • Given the lack of communication, how should I handle this situation in a calm and constructive way?
  • How should I approach the khula process if I don’t want the marriage to end?

Any ideas, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read.
