I’ve been slowly putting this space together over the past few months, trying to stay true to a Japandi style without making it feel too staged or “Pinterest-perfect.” I wanted something that felt calm and minimal, but still warm enough to actually live in.
The biggest challenge was finding the right balance between Japanese and Scandinavian influences. I leaned into a neutral Japandi color palette with lots of soft beiges, warm woods, and a few darker accents to keep things grounded. The couch (or sofa, depending on who you ask) was the starting point, and from there I built around it with simple Japandi furniture that didn’t feel bulky or overdesigned.
I added a low Japandi coffee table to match the floor and keep that clean, grounded look, and am debating whether I should pair it with a textured Japandi rug to soften the space a bit. Let me know your thoughts…
Lighting was another big thing for me as I didn’t want anything harsh, so I went with a Japandi floor lamp in the corner and a small Japandi table lamp for a warmer glow at night. Honestly, the layered Japandi lighting makes a bigger difference than I expected.
For decor, I kept it minimal with subtle Japandi decor touches, like the amorphous mirror, the glass bowl with moss balls and Japandi wallpapers on both sides to add texture without overwhelming the room.
I tried to make it feel intentional but not overdone. It’s still evolving, but I’m pretty happy with how my Japandi living room came together so far. By the way, I’m open to any feedback or ideas you think could make it look even better.
