I've messed around with different backgrounds before, and finally thought "y'know... I'm already painting the miniatures, why not just try doing the backdrop?"
Anyway, still having a lot of fun doing this series. Feedback/ criticism always welcome.
Rather proud of the terrain in this one, wanted to make it look especially nasty and flooded as per the conditions during the battle.
Still building my Soviet force, wanted to show off what I think is probably the best detailing/ texturing work I've done in a whil. I know the chipping could be tidied up in some spots, but I'm still pretty proud of it.
I've already done tons of extremely late war SS, and decided I wanted to create a force ready to kick their kraut teeth in. Not 100% historical- obviously there were more guys in coats and winter gear in Berlin, but A) I really, really don't like the existing Soviet winter set, and B ) although I have a bunch of winter Germans to steal their Ushanka heads from I...uh...already used them all.
Anyway, there was, in the actual battle, a Border Guard regiment that helped storm the Reichstag, and with that I would also go with basing that looked more like some of Berlin's asphalt roads than the usual, classic cobblestone bases.
