Which fantasy series has the most satisfying “everything comes together” ending?
Hi everyone!
I’ve been thinking about endings lately, especially in long fantasy series where there are dozens of characters, old prophecies, political threads, strange magic rules, little objects mentioned three books ago, and promises the author may or may not actually pay off.
For me, one of the best feelings in fantasy is when a series reaches the end and suddenly all the scattered pieces start clicking into place. Not just in a “the villain is defeated” way, but where earlier scenes gain new meaning, character choices feel earned, and you realize the author really did know where they were going the whole time.
I don’t need every single question answered. Sometimes mystery is better left alone. But I do love when an ending makes the journey feel richer instead of smaller. The kind of finale where you can look back at book one and think, oh, that mattered way more than I realized.
I’m curious which series gave people that feeling most strongly. A finale that made the slow parts worth it, made the setup pay off, and didn’t feel like the author was just rushing to close every door.
What fantasy series do you think has the most satisfying “everything comes together” ending?
