Question on Dosage
I am 61, nearing 62, and pretty much in post-menopause I guess - don't really have hot flashes anymore, but still have many of the other symptoms - brain fog, achy joints, poor sleep, no energy, anxiety at night/bedtime, weight gain, thinning hair. Off and on over the last 5 years I have been on 1m oral estrogen and 200 oral progesterone. I started and stopped due to always spotting while on it. I also did pellets for 8 months during the last part of that timeframe.
Four weeks ago I started on .025 estradiol patch and 100 oral progesterone. I am feeling pretty good. What I really notice is I am sleeping better, less night anxiety and no achy joints.
I have two questions -
- Will I feel even better if I increase the dosage?
- Should I work toward increasing my estradiol dosage for the added benefits of lower risk of uterine cancer, better brain health, cardiovascular benefits and osteoporosis benefits.
I believe I am in that age bracket where I need higher estrogen now to get those added benefits. I was thinking if I get on a higher dosage now and if I feel good on it and no spotting I could do it for a couple years and then go to a lower dosage as suggested by studies. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38595196/
Not totally convinced my doctor is fully up to date on the latest HRT information.
I hope the above makes sense. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
