Marquis Quest Troubleshooting
Good day, all
A friends parents replaced their Marquis Quest with a newer unit and gave us the Quest in question here. It’s in decent shape, though aged.
I’ve run into an issue that I need to resolve. The working controller is a Balboa VL200. The unit should have 3 functions on the jet button; low, high, off. When the hot tub is in the initial start/prime phase when turning the breaker on, it has that functionality. During the priming phase, it only has low and high. The hot tub will heat up nicely to its 104° and hold it on low, but will not turn off the pump. When I adjust the cycle between the 2 hour, 4 hour, 6 hour, 8 hour, and “2C” for twice a day, nothing changes. When the tub is reading 104° and I lower it to make sure the temp sensors germ to function, they do as the heating element turns off as it understands that I am commanding a lower temp. At this time, I can not get the hot tub to turn “off” in any way according to any of the schedules or by the “Jet” button on the control panel.
The relay that controls high and low is obviously functioning, and with a good loud snap from the relay, but the unit just won’t turn off at all except only when in the priming phase. This tells me that the control board recognizes an “off” function, but not after the priming portion.
Attached are pics of the controller and the Balboa Board part number VS500Z.
I was hoping to find a diagram of the white switches in the red housing (lower board, a bit to the right of middle), but from a video I saw that gave some context, the switches are correct.
Any guidance is appreciated. Not too many tools that I don’t own that I can’t work on this, so open to suggestions.
