We should trade for Jalen Suggs and here are my reasons why.
Jalen suggs has played PG all his career and is it a buy low opportunity for playing out of position.
He is an elite POA defender and has proven this throughout his time in the NBA so far.
He has a contract that is decsending in value every single season. Very valuable in the new CBA era. Also the contract is 4 years so you've got him locked up for a long time.
Finally this is most important and something that I'm not even putting into a point but rather writting it in a paragraph. People often go on ESPN and look at a guys 3pt% and decide if this guy is a good or bad shooter from beyond the arc. That's a terrible way of looking at a player. Instead look at the player breaking down his off the dribble 3's vs his catch and shoot 3's. We find some interesting facts:
Off the dribble 3pt%: 22-25%
Catch and shoot 3pt%: 37-39% consistently his whole NBA career.
Now knowing all of this if a team were to trade for him and put him in the role of a off the ball shooter, POA defender plus a secondary playmaker because he still is a good playmaker (5.5 APG), you'd get yourself quite the player. Tell him to stop shooting off the dribble/pull up 3's completly unless it's a last second shot and I think your team improves drastically.
Putting him in an Austin Reaves role honestly might be the best thing for his career and here at Portland we could honestly do that.
We could probably trade Jrue Holiday and some picks and I think it would be a worthwhile investment for the team.
