Ive been upgrading my kit lately and was thinking of buying a new module until I realized 20 year old tech is still almost a grand. So Ive decided that a laptop and some drum software is a better option. The only problem is I dont know my ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to computers. Im trying to go budget here. I dont wanna sink 2 grand so im looking for options on used computers and I know I cant buy used software but im hoping that they all arent $500.

I need recommendations for what laptop to look for and what program I should put on it. Right now my module is a Roland td11 and it has a midi out on it. If you need anymore info i will gladly provide it.
