Is a certificate worth pursuing for an arborist?
This is kind of a niche question.
I'm a certified arborist and urban forest professional.
I work in tree care and work with a program that is specifically meant for tree mapping, inventories and quotes.
I have an interest in learning GIS after seeing that most cities, utility companies, and institutions use GIS.
I downloaded QGis and messed around a bit by mapping the trees in my neighborhood. It took me hours since this was my first time using a proper GIS program.
I plan on studying and getting at least a basic understanding of GIS.
Ive seen that there are instructional programs through UCDavis that are free.
Is this worth pursuing in terms of job development, and are these certifications worth anything when it comes to applying for a Job?
