I've seen discussion and comparisons between Blade Runner (1982) and the German film Metropolis (1927) from Blade Runner fans, but I haven't seen this musical connection made before apart from one comment on Youtube. This is a song by German band Kraftwerk, titled 'Metropolis' after the 1927 science-fiction movie. Kraftwerk were the first popular electronic group, and likely influenced Vangelis. Blade Runner's 'End Titles' track sounds very similar to 'Metropolis' with the arpeggiated parts and the slower descending melody. Does anyone think Vangelis made this an intentional connection to the German song and film?
