Parent of child recently diagnosed - I have QUESTIONS
Hi All,
Feeling a little isolated and have lots of questions, I thought maybe this would be a good place to turn to.
My 10 year old was recently taken to hospital after having a seizure (first time, never happened before, nobody in family has history) and was diagnosed with epilepsy. LOTS to process here but one question is bubbling to the top and hopefully some other parents here could help -
How do people handle monitoring at night? Her seizures happened when she was asleep/middle of the night, we were advised to get a device to monitor her throughout the night - outside of a baby monitor does anyone use anything they recommend? They had recommended getting one that records, but I can't really find anything that records everything, only one that records movement when it happens. For now she's sleeping with my wife every night just until we adjust to a new normal, but would like to be able to set something up that gives us peace of mind but also records any activity if we need that. Also do people use any kind of watch or something the child wears? Her seizures are focal so I'm not sure that would make a difference?
Thank you for any help, it's much appreciated. I have so many questions but that's the pressing one for now.
