My partner and I are currently looking at buying a house in Westchester and are interested in the following areas by these train stops. We currently live in nyc and are ready for more space and fresher air lol

• Hudson Line: Croton-Harmon and Cortlandt stations (Hendrick Hudson School district)

• Harlem Line: Chappaqua, Pleasantville, Hawthorne stations (maybe a drive to north white plains station)

I’d really like to utilize the express trains to grand central. I also work a rotating 12-hour schedule and would ideally get to Grand Central in about 50 mins or less via the express

A few questions:

  1. Express Reliability: Which of these stations has the most consistent super express train?

  2. Night Shift Parking: Since I work nights half the time, how do these stations handle the 1 AM–7 AM winter parking bans? Are any specifically overnight friendly for commuters?

  3. $900k Inventory: Is a private lot realistic in these specific towns at this price point?

  4. Taxes: I’m aiming for 18k in taxes max. Are any of these towns not even close to that? Any district funding issues or anything to worry about in the future besides basic increases?

I’ve read posts on here already about Chappaqua and that’s probably the bottom of my list due to the smaller lot sizes and higher taxes. I really don’t care about the “prestige” of the town, I’m aiming for low taxes, good school district, good sized lot (.6+ acres, 1,800+ square feet) and a good commute to work. What town do you think should be the top of our list? Any that I’m missing?

Thanks for any insights! Any advice would be very helpful for us on our journey
