Heads you lose, tails you lose, where are we then

My daughter's fully hand-written college essays were flagged as 99% AI, probably because they were good writing. The choice is write poorly to pass the BS "AI check," or write well and suffer the fools who think the detectors work. Heads they win, tails you lose.

Do Students Still Take Lectures Seriously Anymore?

Lately I've noticed more students treating lectures like background noise. Phones are out, laptops are open to everything except classwork, and attention seems harder to hold than ever.

I know every generation gets accused of being distracted, but it feels different now. Short form content, constant notifications, AI tools, and endless entertainment are competing with every lesson.

For students, what actually keeps you engaged during a lecture?

For teachers, have you changed the way you teach over the last few years to keep students focused, or do you think the responsibility should stay with the students?

Curious to hear what people are seeing in their classrooms.
