Why is Ultra League so Much Harder than Great League

I understand that its harder to build UL Pokemon, I understand that its a much wider meta to learn, but I dont understand why UL play is substantially harder than GL. I have 6 fully built highly ranked pokemon with ideal IVs and I cannot buy a win no matter what team I use. These are my built mons all with ideal move sets and elite moves:
#2 Corviknight 1/14/15
#11 Florges 0/6/13
#12 Ferraligatr 2/14/15
#31 Shadow Annihilape 3/9/15
#49 Gollisopod 1/14/15
#54 Skeledirge 4/11/14

I win probably 2/3 in GL and win probably 1/8 in UL. I appreciate any advice on team building, strategy, explanations on how optimal UL play contrasts with GL play, any advice at all

Lechonk community day is on Saturday and the elite move is Mud Slap. The PVP rankings show the Female Oinkologne to be rated 264 ranks higher than the male but the rankings have not accounted for the new elite FM. Do you expect the male version will be worth building with mud slap or will the female still be far and away the better Pokemon?

I have 8 charged TMs left to use before the rocket event ends. I have a handful of pokemon who require elite moves to be most effective. I would hate to miss an event that can teach an elite move and not be able to participate because a pokemon is Frustration locked. Do you anticipate any of these pokemon getting an event before the next Rocket event in 3 months?

Chespin
Bulbasaur
Beldum
Froakie
Oshawott
Fennekin
Charmander

Also side note: I had been under the impression that evolving a shadow Pokemon locked the frustration move so that it could never be TMed away. My friend is telling me he proved this false, am I misunderstanding the frustration rules?
