FISH being retested

I recently switched my myeloma care to Dana-Farber for a fresh set of eyes on my case and to be closer to home having my care at their satellite. I already know I have the t(4;14) mutation, but my original FISH testing was apparently incomplete, and now they want to obtain my old pathology specimen to see if additional testing can be done. They only tested me at the time for three mutations. I’m not sure why.

I’m coming up on 5 years post-transplant, doing well, with low light chains and stable numbers. Yet the thought of possibly discovering additional mutations has sent my anxiety through the roof. 😔

It’s so hard to enjoy doing well when there’s always that fear of the unknown hanging over you.

Has anyone else had their original FISH testing revisited years later? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. 💜

Boston area-switching care

Has anyone ever seen Dr. Laubach@Dana Farber in the US? I am thinking of switching my care to him so that I can go to the Dana Farber in Weymouth MA because it’s 15 minutes from me versus driving into Mass General. I realize I need an oncologist at the Weymouth satellite location, too, which I am thinking about Dr. Rob Friedman. Welcoming any feedback for anyone that knows of these two doctors or one of these doctors. Thank you.
