I’m frustrated and am looking for some opinions. I’m 26 (F) and since I was around 14 years old I’ve had sporadic episodes of PSVT, typically occurring after sudden movements (bending down, intense exercise with no warm up, etc.). The first episode I remember, I was cheering on the sidelines in middle school and ran over to my mom as I felt it happening. I had an echo done around then and all was normal. I’ve worn a few holters that never caught it. The latest episode was this morning while unloading the dishwasher. I had just woken up 20 minutes prior, my heart rate is typically very low, around 40-45 resting, 50-60 standing. When I bent down it almost felt like my heart jumped or flipped, then it shot up to 195 BPM. No gradual increase or anything, just immediate pounding. This is what it typically feels like, and it has never lasted more than about 10 minutes. The come down is not gradual, it’s just a random stop that immediately goes from 180–200 back down to 50s-70s. Afterwards, I feel extremely drained, like I ran a few miles and I feel nauseous and like the blood all got flushed out of me.
This happens about twice a year, but more often if I’m doing more physical things. I’ve ended up becoming less physically active out of fear of this happening which I know is not healthy. My cardiologist says it’s all completely normal and fine. I guess I’m just looking for validation that 1) an echo from 12 years ago is still fine to use and I don’t need a new one 2) I don’t need medication or an ablation and 3) these episodes are completely harmless (they don’t feel as such).
I feel very dismissed by my 75 year old cardiologist who approaches my health like I’m too young to be in his office. Any thoughts would be helpful. TYIA
