Pension vs. Private Practice
Just need a little feedback from my full time therapists. I am currently working in a corrections setting (full benefits and pension) the pay is roughly around 87k. I also am seeing about 10-12 clients per week in my part time private practice. So this means … easily working 13-14 hr days. Do I need the part time income. No. Do I like having extra $. Yes. I’m getting tired. Tired of running around. Long days. Blah blah blah. You name it. I have been entertaining the idea of transition full time PP. But I would have to see somewhere around 30 clients a week for several years due to reimbursement rates in Florida. This would be to maintain a healthy investment, business expenses, taxes, insurance etc. It is uncommon for social workers to have this type of position with benefits. Would I be stupid to give that up. Side note: I’m 45, so I am looking at quality of life and retirement. Help!
