I did all the firmware updates so now I know Spark Go is working correctly as a USB audio interface with Garageband and Quicktime again. My goal is to have better sounding practice jams so I can review my own progress (hence the Quicktime interest too) but in close to a frictionless way. The onboard mic for the laptop is... fine but not great.
I have noticed that you can't start a backing track within the Spark app and have that feed through the audio. In fact, it stops working as a USB audio interface immediately and drops as an input in either Garageband or Quicktime and ends your recording session. It makes a certain amount of engineering sense to me if I think about the different jobs being done here by the tech, but it is frustrating.
Is there a way around this that isn't just me putting a good mic up to my Spark Go through a Focusrite and using that as the input? My normal practice routine is really just to use the Neo because i'm in an apartment and don't want to disturb my wife or neighbors, but that means I record a lot less casual practice than I'd like because it's more work to switch to an amp, etc. etc. when I'm in the zone.
I've got an iPad mini, an iPhone and a Macbook Air, and I'm open to a combo of tools if that's actually best. Would love folks' thoughts!!!
