
Autism Awareness Community Event by Senator Cordell Cleare - Fri. May 15th
Good afternoon folks ! Sharing an upcoming community event that may be especially helpful for residents, parents/caregivers, educators, youth workers, and anyone interested in autism awareness and support resources.
Friday, May 15th from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building, 2nd Floor Art Gallery.
The event will feature:
• A Q&A panel with doctors, autistic self-advocates, special education experts, parents, and community organizations.
• Breakout workshops on diagnosis and evaluation, IEPs and school supports, early intervention, transition planning, and social/extracurricular resources
• Resource tables and opportunities to connect directly with providers and advocates
This event is meant to create an accessible, community-centered space for folks to learn about available resources, ask questions, and better understand how autism can present in children, teens, and adults, including for people who may not yet have a diagnosis.
Free and open to the public !
