Interviewer surprised about an experience I already told them I don’t have

I’m now working in a central gov agency but my contract is ending soon. Been searching for jobs for months now and finally landed an interview last week.

It is a role that requires gov knowledge and involves policy writing, while my current job doesn’t have to write policies, I’ve done an extensive amount of reviewing and advise work on the improvement of the policies. Which, I have clearly stated when I answered their question about policy writing experience during the application.

During the interview, the talent acquisition person asked a question about what policy that I’m currently writing/working on. I replied with a policy that I’m currently on but reiterated that I’m not responsible for writing it. She was shocked and asked, “So you have not written any policy before?” with a very harsh tone and a couple more time during the interview.

The interview ended with a bitter taste, and I seriously don’t think it’s my problem (please correct me if I’m wrong). Now I’m just worried I’ll have to go on the journey of endlessly searching for jobs and not sure if I can land any interviews soon again.
