I’ve been on Hailey Fe 1/20 continuously for 2 years now. Suddenly I’m cramping and having PMS symptoms, what gives?
I’m 36, I rarely ever miss taking my pill, I think I have 2-3 times in the last full year so it isn’t that. I take it at the exact same time every night.
I’ve almost always done my birth control continuously and I’ve always been on a low dose version (20 mcg) but lately the last two or three months I’ve been having break through pms symptoms.
I’ve been going through hunger phases where some weeks I feel like I’m starving constantly, a few days out of the month I’ll be crying over anything, I’ve been getting what I’ve always called “period flu”.
Right now I’m actively fully cramping from my lower back to my thighs in a way that I’d expect for my whole period to start in a day or two.
Why would my birth control just seemingly stop working? Should I assume it’s not working correctly if I’m experiencing break through period symptoms? As in is my risk of pregnancy higher if it’s not working to prevent all of my cycle symptoms like it was before? I’ve never been on a BC with a higher estrogen dose than 20 so idk if asking to raise it to the next one up will stop the symptoms or bring on other side effects I’ve never experienced lol
