29, diagnosed surgically with endometriosis at 25 but I’ve had symptoms since 14-15. My prior surgery was with a specialist and I felt great for about 2 years, but over the past year my symptoms have returned and are at the point where they’re significantly impacting my daily life. I recently saw my GYN, and he feels that my symptoms align with a recurrence of endometriosis. He gave me the option of another surgery or trying Orilissa, and I’m trying to determine which would be better.
He said surgery is indicated based on my symptoms and diagnostic history, and it would be a reasonable next step. It could definitely determine if endo is the cause and areas of growth could be removed. However, Orilissa could significantly reduce my pain if I can tolerate it, and I wouldn’t have to plan my life around surgery for another year or two. He said that he’s ok with whichever treatment option I choose.
I’m really interested in hearing from people who have had multiple surgeries and from people who have tried Orilissa. I’m still weighing the pros and cons of both, and while I’m leaning a certain way I’m taking a few days to decide.
