Previous company asking me to pay ₹2 lakh bond money after internship. What can happen if I ignore them?

I recently got an on-campus placement and had completed my internship at a company where I was supposed to convert to a full-time employee. I had done 9 months internship. However, I decided not to continue because the company was working on a very old tech stack that I genuinely wasn’t interested in building my career around.

The offer letter mentioned that the company has the right to recover the bond amount if the candidate leaves before completing the 2-year period.

During the internship, I had signed a 2-year bond, and now they are asking me to pay ₹2 lakh for not joining full time. I already have received my internship completion letter.

I honestly do not want to pay the bond amount. I just want to understand what the possible consequences could be if I stop answering their calls and ignore them completely. Will the placement cell intervene and cost more trouble and pressure me to pay the bond money

Has anyone here dealt with a similar situation in India, especially for internship/full-time conversion bonds?
