Morning routine struggles alone lead me to feelings of regret: 13 week old lab
We have a 13 week old lab that we unplanned got when he was 8 weeks to help out a family that could no longer keep him. Mentally not being ready for a pup has been a bit challenging having an 8 week old landing in your home. We have a 2.5 year old lab so we were just getting on the other side of with him and now we are starting over.
The pup is sweet but is vastly different which I know is the cardinal sin to compare but it's hard not to sometimes. This guy is so hard, and there are so many things I am struggling with but one of the most challenging is his morning routine.
We are at the point now where he sleeps through the night, one last potty break aroud 10 and into the crate. His water gets pulled at 8. Between 4am and 5am he starts barking/whining for potty time but after that he wants breakfast. I really dont want to get in the habit of feeding him at 4am so I put him back in the crate but at 5 or 5:30 he starts up again. He is still so little so I have been feeding him but at what point do I try to transition to later in the morning to around 7 like my other dog?
