Struggling to find a place
Hello! So I’m in a bit of a pickle here. I’m a single mom and had a baby in September. Had some issues with family and had to move to Georgia for a few months because I have family there and they helped me out with the baby. Well I ended up having to leave because my family I was staying with had an incredibly toxic dynamic and ended up stealing thousands of dollars from me. So I’m back home in Chicago staying with a friend but she can’t house me long-term. My job starts in June(and is 15 miles from where I’m staying) and I’ve been trying to look for a studio or 1 bedroom for $1200 max (I’ve seen plenty of places in this price range, just in less desirable areas but we’ll be fine)
My biggest problem is my credit score is low and I don’t have a co-signer. The place I’m staying in the suburbs and I don’t drive so I can’t necessarily walk around and find for rent signs from private landlords. So..any advice?
