Hi all,

I'm in the middle of planning a home extension and would love some fresh eyes on the floor plan, specifically from people who've been through something similar or just have a good eye for layout.

I've engaged a draftsman/designer but honestly feel like he's just drawing exactly what I describe rather than bringing any ideas of his own to the table. I'm sure there's a better way to do this, I just can't see it myself.

Here's what I'm working with and what I'm trying to achieve:

• The extension is in the south-southeast corner of the home, adding a new kitchen and family room

• The right side of the plan (all four bedrooms, bathroom, toilet and laundry) is staying as-is, the wet areas were brand new when we bought the place so no point touching them, and I don't want to move any bedrooms

• The one thing I will do on the bedroom side is increase the size of Bed 2 and Bed 3.

• Everything on the left side of the plan is fair game, that's where I'm hoping to get some creative input

Two pics attached, first is the proposed plan with the extension, second is the existing floor plan for context.

Really keen to hear if anyone can spot a better way to arrange the new kitchen/family zone, improve the flow, or make better use of the space. Any feedback welcome, even if it's just pointing out something that doesn't look right to you. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes is worth more than a paid professional!

Thanks in advance.
