I am joining the union in eastern PA. Data center. I am coming in as a third year as I have a bunch of residential experience. My question is about hard hats. I was told I need one but does the union provide one? If they do, is it shitty and should I buy my own? Or are they decent? I didn't need one for residential. Anyone have any recommendations on a good hard hat if the ones provided aren't great? Appreciate it.
A friend of my family works for the carpenters union. I have been doing residential for 3 years. I am in PA. They said they can take me on as a 2nd year apprentice. It would be with local 167 working data centers in lancaster.. My question is about the drug testing. I have medical marijuana card, does that mean anything? I have stopped already because i am trying to push back my drug and math test so I can be clean, I don't have a date for anything yet. Do they still test for THC? Either way, i have stopped...i just am curious as to what I should be expecting as I don't want to ruin this opportunity, it came out of nowhere and residential wages are trash around here.
