Are we paying tuition just to teach ourselves?

I need to vent because I know I can’t be the only one feeling this.

We’re paying so much in tuition, and on top of that paying extra for McGraw Hill homework… yet half the time it feels like we’re left teaching ourselves everything.

I spend HOURS studying chapters, doing SmartBook, assignments, check your understanding, reviewing notes… and then the quizzes are SO oddly specific that I’m sitting there like wtf 😳 where did that even come from??
But what really gets me is… where is the professor interaction?

Where are the recorded lectures breaking down difficult concepts? Where are the helpful study guides? Where are the PowerPoints that actually teach and help students understand complicated material instead of us having to figure everything out alone?

I understand nursing school is supposed to be challenging — I’m not expecting easy. But sometimes it feels like we’re paying thousands of dollars just to self-teach and hope for the best.

Please tell me I’m not the only one feeling burned out by this. 😭

Professor Ahmed Alassal for Online Physiology (OC)

Hi everyone,

I’ll be taking Physiology online with Professor Ahmed Alassal and wanted to hear from students who have taken his class before.

How is the workload overall? Are the quizzes, exams, and assignments manageable? Is the class more focused on memorization or understanding concepts? How difficult are the exams compared to the study materials?

I work full-time while in nursing school, so I’m trying to get an idea of how much study time I should plan for each week.

Any advice, study tips, resources, or things you wish you knew before starting his class would be greatly appreciated.
