Complete Disney/Pixar Heroes & Villains (Captain America, Team Leader & Doctor Doom, King of Latveria) Commander Decks + 75 Disney-Themed Basic Lands (15 of each color)!

Hi again!

After a small break after my latest Warcraft deck and with a new Magic set released, what better way to celebrate the proper addition of the Hero and Villain creature types than to make two Disney/Pixar-themed decks built around them?

The Heroes deck is helmed by Hercules (Captain America, Team Leader) and the Villains deck is helmed by Hades (Doctor Doom, King of Latveria), with both based on the their respective precons with a few needed upgrades to make them more viable. I played around with them in Forge for a bit and liked how they felt so I'm happy with how they turned out! Both focus on +1/+1 counters, but the Villains deck does so using the Connive mechanic, so there's a lot of discarding. I hate having to discard cards so it was a way for me to challenge myself into trying new gameplay styles while sticking to my favorite theme, i.e. kindred decks.

As usual, these decks focus more on thematic fun rather than pure optimization. Either way, I hope you'll enjoy playing them! 😊 Oh and there's a whole set of basic lands included using official Disney background paintings and concept art, which was a blast to look up! Definitely made me see the old handpainted Disney movies in a new way.

A few disclaimers: 1. I didn't add any of the Incredibles (aside from the Showtime!/Avengers Assemble! card) because they felt more Fantastic Four-esque, which I decided to omit from the heroes deck because of reasons. 2. I know it would make sense to use the actual Hercules Marvel card as Disney Hercules, but it was too easy. Good thing there was another Disney demigod available! 3. Most cards are based off Lorcana artwork, which is why some of them have non-canonical appearances (e.g. Peter Pan and Captain Hook). I thought they looked cool though so I used them anyway. 4. While I'm not here to argue which Disney movie or character is the best, Hercules is mine and therefore there's a bit more Hercules-themed cards, together with other movies I enjoy the most. While I do appreciate getting casual requests (I don't do commissions sadly), I probably won't be making additional card variants or exchanging card X for character Y :) Ideally I'd make two decks with 200 cards each just so I could fit everything in there, but alas.

If you want to know how I make the art pop out of the frame, here's a comment from an earlier deck where I briefly explain the process: https://www.reddit.com/r/magicproxies/comments/1tnn7cd/comment/oo0qxuf/

What's included in the Drive folder:

  • Every card needed for the decks, obviously
    • A few cards have multiple variants, either with different art or the Ape Villain token created by Red Ghost (Jumba Jookiba) that has either more thematic creature types (Experiment Villain) or the original creature types (Ape Villain), depending on whether you or your opponents want creature types to remain the same
  • A decklist in text format, including Moxfield links to both decks (Heroes and Villains)
  • Custom tokens
  • Thematic cardbacks that you can use if you want to
  • Full sets of Disney-themed basic lands for each color in the commanders' color identities

As always, if you manage to find something that's not supposed to be there or if there's a typo or another error of some kind, feel free to comment or send me a message or something so I can change it asap!

You can also find the rest of my decks in my post history (Warcraft, Star Wars, A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones), if you're interested 😊

Complete Warcraft "Azshara's Naga" Commander Deck + 125 Warcraft-Themed Basic Lands (25 of each color)!

Hi again!

I'm back again with some more Warcraft and this time I tried my hand at a Simic Merfolk tribal with a Naga theme! Helmed by Queen Azshara herself as a reskinned Hakbal of the Surging Soul, you'll have lots of lands and lots of counters that await as your Naga explore the depths of Azeroth.

Although my decks are heavily thematic as usual, I'd argue that merfolk decks aren't that difficult to build effectively so it should play pretty well I hope without sacrificing synergy. It includes most of the staple merfolk, with lots of cards to ramp and pump your board. There's not really much more to say, so I hope you'll enjoy it!

Disclaimer: I've already ordered this and many other decks off MPC and they have all gone through without issue despite the fake copyright in the lower right corner of the cards, so it shouldn't be a problem (I'm assuming it's because it's not an actual company or brand). If you want to be on the safe side though you can always paint over the copyright text in e.g. Paint before importing the cards to your MPC order :)

What's included in the Drive folder:

  • Every card needed for the deck, obviously
    • One card—Rapid Hybridization (Polymorph: Jellyfish)—comes in two variants: one that creates a token with the Jellyfish creature type and one that creates a token with the vanilla Frog Lizard creature type, in case you or your opponents prefer creature types to remain unchanged
  • A decklist in text format, including a Moxfield link
  • Custom tokens

The third and (for now) final part of my Star Wars commander deck trilogy, wrapping things up with a Sith/Empire theme!

This deck is obviously more aggressive than the more defensive Jedi deck—equip lightsabers, crew Imperial vehicles, amass an enormous army and make your Sith Lord of choice as menacing as possible. It also borrows several mechanics from the LOTR sets so there's a lot of Amass and the Ring tempting you, but instead of an Orc Army, you amass an Imperial Army, and instead of the Ring tempting you, you embrace the Dark side. Like I did with my Lich King deck, I've changed the text on the cards affected by the "embrace the Dark side" reskin to reflect this while providing the player with a custom-made helper token to help keep track of the modified wording if needed. It's obviously still the exact same mechanic, but with a thematic flair :)

Worth mentioning is that since I've included a lot of LOTR cards in the deck, you'll see a lot of buffs for your "Goblins and Orcs." Those abilities on Star Wars-themed cards felt a bit immersion-breaking, so for the creature cards that are either Goblins or Orcs and the cards that have an ability text that affect these creatures, I've provided variants that exchange these creature types for Sith and Imperial respectively. These two variants include one version with the text exchanged, and one with the vanilla text. Feel free to pick whichever one you want—I personally plan on printing both variants on the front and back of the same card so I can switch it around depending on how comfortable my opponents are when "modifying" (read: reflavoring) creature types. Also please note that this shouldn't provide an additional gameplay advantage since there are no other cards in the deck that are affected by this change other than the ones already modifying Goblins and Orcs. Cards played by other players might care about those creature types though, in which case you should be ready to simply accept that those cards are still technically Goblins and Orcs for gameplay purposes.

Aaaanyway, this deck is as usual heavily thematic, which took precedence over absolute and perfect synergy because I wanted it to feel like an actual Star Wars deck and not just a reskinned meta deck. It consists mostly of Sith and their Force powers, as well as cunning Imperials and their gadgets. There's also a few Separatists that snuck their way into the list (deal with it), so consider this more of a "bad guys" counterpart to the "good guys" Jedi/Rebellion deck rather than a 100% Sith/Empire themed deck. I also finished the Star Wars basic lands collection, a link to which is posted further down in case you just want the basic lands!

That was a lot more than I might have thought I'd need to write lol, but I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did creating it!

    • Some cards come in several different versions since I either couldn't decide on which version I liked the most, so pick the one you want or print different versions on the front and back and switch them around at your leisure
      • Rest assured that the cards that have been changed from Goblins and Orcs to Imperials and Sith have regular, unchanged variants as well
  • A decklist in text format, including a Moxfield link
  • Custom tokens
  • A thematic cardback that you can use if you want to
  • Full sets of Star Wars-themed basic lands for each color in the commander's color identity, i.e. Islands, Swamps and Mountains

It took much longer than I anticipated to make everything work together for this one, so I might have made some mistakes along the way. The second part of my three-part Star Wars deck project, this time with a Jedi/Rebel Alliance theme!

This deck is a voltron/duel deck mainly focused on equipment (mostly lightsabers) and auras (mostly Jedi stances), where the idea is to buff a Jedi of choice and swing hard. There's also a number cards that grant you a lot more control over what cards you draw next, to capitalize on your commander's ability. As usual, this deck is heavily thematic, which took precedence over absolute and perfect synergy because I wanted it to feel like an actual Star Wars deck and not just a reskinned meta deck. It includes mostly Jedi and their Force powers, but also characters and events related to the Jedi and the Rebel Alliance. So basically a "the good guys" type of deal. I've also made custom basic lands with a Star Wars theme, which are included. This deck features the remaining two colors that were missing from my Bounty Hunter deck, and while you do technically have all colors available as of now, I'll be uploading standardized basic lands of all colors all together in the same folder when I've released the third and final deck (the Sith deck) within the next couple of days. I've included the Bounty Hunter ones at the end of the preview of this post so you know what they look like until then :)

That's basically it, so I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did creating it!
