CA small claims — what if I can’t find the defendant to serve him?
I filed a small claims case in Los Angeles County for an unpaid promissory note (around $10,000). I have his last known address, and all his personal information, but I’m not sure he still lives there. I also have a possible family address, phone number, and email.
What should I do if I can’t find him to serve the papers? Is it worth hiring a process server for skip tracing / multiple attempts? And if they still can’t serve him, do I just ask the court to push the hearing date back?
